As a recognition of the achievement the club has been awarded a prize from the FSA (Foot Standards Agency) as recognition of the contribution towards healthy living. Read on to find out what the benefits are in full.
AIMS
In line with the current activity of the Welsh Network of Healthy Schools Schemes,
Rhyl Football Club would like to help to encourage children to be made aware of
the benefits of eating healthily and keeping themselves fit.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Working closely with primary and secondary schools in the area, we would like to
invite pupils between the ages of 7-12 years old to visit Rhyl Football Club during
school hours, to tour the ground, dressing rooms and hospitality areas. The pupils
will experience first hand, “behind the scenes” of what happens on match days, and
use the experience to reaffirm the importance of a healthy life-style.
THE BENEFITS:
The tours will build on the work already done in the classroom in ensuring pupils
understand the importance of a healthy life-style. We will discuss how players prepare
and train for a match-day, and how they keep themselves fit and healthy.
We will show a short film, using players as role models, and briefly talk about
the importance of healthy eating and exercise, again using a footballers day to
day role.
A SOUVENIR:
Each pupil will take away “a goody bag” of relevant items of food and literature
donated by local businesses and Denbighshire County Council.
DURATION:
The tour will last approximately one hour, but can be “personalised” to suit the
requirements of individual schools, tours can take place on:-
Fridays between 10.00 a.m. & 12 noon.
ATTENDEES:
All tours will be conducted in conjunction with a representative from Denbighshire
County Council and Rhyl Football Club. The tour will be supervised at all times
working alongside teachers from relevant schools.
