The transfer window closed with a final total of 6 players joining the Lilywhites and 3 players leaving. The departures were as expected George Horan, Greg Stones (joined Colwyn Bay) and Lee Hunt (joined Bangor City), we thank each of them especially George and Greg for their previous loyalty and commitment and wish all three every success in their future careers.
The six newcomers are Philip Ojapah, Andy Owens, Andrew Pearson, Joe Dixon, Lee Ebden and Russell Courtney.
Ojapah, a 20 year old central defender, has signed on loan from Oldham Athletic until the end of the season whilst Owens and Pearson, who are also 20 years old, and can play in defence or midfield have previously been at Altrincham. Dixon is a winger who has impressed after training with the first team over the past month and Ebdon is a striker who was previously with Durham City, all these players have now received international clearance. Clearance is still awaited for 21 year old Courtney who spent 4 years at Crewe Academy and Youth teams before leaving to take up a place at University, he most recently played at Salford City operating mainly as a central defender but can also play as a striker.
Rhyl Football Club are also pleased to confirm that youngster Sam Heenan has been rewarded with a contract until the end of the season.
The frantic activity of transfer deadline day also included an approach by Telford to sign striker Mattie Williams and we are delighted that, despite their best efforts, Mattie has pledged his immediate future to the Lilywhites.
Finally, Wrexham have secured the emergency loan signing of Luke Holden. It was feared that the deal would not go through as Luke has played for Rhyl and Charlton Athletic during this season and players are not permitted to play for more than two clubs during one season. |
