gh270210-1432-0120-mark_connolly_celebrates_his_second_goal.jpgRhyl surrendered a 3-1 lead against neighbours Prestatyn Town who then went on to win the resulting penalty shoot-out and progress to the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup.
Mark Connolly's shot on 11 minutes put Rhyl ahead but the hosts equalised on 18 minutes when Parker slotted the ball in the net from the back post.
Rhyl's lead was restored on 27 minutes with a fantastic shot which flew into the top corner.
It was 3-1 just three minutes later through Matty Williams who scored from the edge of the box but Prestatyn kept up the fighting spirit and pulled another back before half time by a volley from Gareth Wilson.
Five minutes into the second half saw Prestatyn's fighting spirit start to pay off as Gibson put the scores back on level terms.
An error from Pritchard allowed Prestatyn to take the lead on 76 minutes when his week goal kick went straight to Andy Moran who didn't let the opportunity pass and duly passed the ball into the net.
As the game went on it looked like it was Rhyl who was going out but Rob Tuner's volleyed the ball into the net in the last minute to take the match to extra time.
Somehow, there were no further goals to come during extra time which was pretty much dominated by Rhyl but the Prestatyn defence and goalkeeper Dunt flew themselves into every attack that came their way.
Prestatyn were to start the penalty shoot-out and it was Andy Moran who stepped up to score.
Matty Williams made it 1-1 while Lewis then stepped up to put Prestatyn back in the lead.
A very poor penalty from Gareth Owen was easily stopped by Dunt, then Gibson sent his side into a 3-1 lead.
Leah put his cooly away as did Hayes.
Rob Turner fired his into the roof of the net but then Parker scored Prestatyn's final kick to send them through to the semi-finals where they will now face Bangor City.
