RHYL 0 NEATH 1 Llewellyn 49
Rhyl didn't do their European qualifying chances any good as a well organised Neath team kept Rhyl at bay despite ending the match with ten men. The first half had 0-0 written all over it with few chances for both sides. It was the visitors who had the first effort on target as Rhyl struggled to settle but once they did start putting pressure on Neath their organised defence were on hand to clear the majority of efforts although Matty Willams and Rob Turner both had good chances to score.
The match turned on 49 minutes though as Rhyl's defence was easily exposed to allow Chris Llewellyn to stab the ball home from 6 yards. Rhyl were handed a potential lifeline on 52 minutes when Stephen Pockett was given a straight red for for making obscene gestures to the crowd while he was going off the pitch following the receiving of treatment to an injury. Credit must go to the linesman who spotted the incident. Rhyl started to pile on the pressure but Neath stayed well organised and shots were limited for the lilywhites and it was always going to be one of those days.
